About the position

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of rigging and crating functions, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with safety standards. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating operational activities, as well as assisting in policy formation, budgeting, and strategic planning to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate various department activities to ensure availability of materials, labor, and equipment as per job-specific requirements.
  • Oversee administrative functions including training, onboarding, report generation, and logistics coordination.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure necessary materials and equipment are available for operations.
  • Establish and implement operational protocols including safety and emergency procedures.
  • Set and oversee department goals in conjunction with managers and the General Manager.
  • Evaluate processes for compliance with laws and specifications.
  • Act as a coach and mentor for employee development and resolve minor conflicts.
  • Participate in job walks, equipment inspections, and budget reviews.
  • Act as a professional representative to external customers and vendors.
  • Perform all other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; higher education or vocational certification is a plus.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in construction, operations, or industrial applications.
  • Direct rigging and/or crane industry experience is highly preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with all staff levels.
  • Ability to motivate others to work safely and efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make judgment calls with limited information.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Windows-based systems and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and resources simultaneously.
