About the position

The Operations Manager at Greif is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a manufacturing plant, including production and maintenance. This role involves managing a team of supervisors, ensuring production schedules are met, maintaining quality standards, and optimizing processes for efficiency and compliance. The Operations Manager plays a crucial role in driving productivity goals and implementing lean manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing, directing, and running optimum day-to-day operations.
  • Managing production, assets capacity, and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining quality standards.
  • Ensuring production output, product quality, and on-time shipping.
  • Allocating resources effectively.
  • Collecting and analyzing data to find areas of waste and overtime.
  • Committing to plant safety and quality procedures.
  • Maintaining systems and processes that track and optimize productivity - OEE.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest production management best practices.
  • Maintaining lean manufacturing processes.
  • Implementing strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives.
  • Monitoring operations, initiating, and driving corrective actions when needed.
  • Managing human capital - Overseeing work schedules to ensure coverage.
  • Providing a clear sense of direction and focus to team members.
  • Facilitating the planning: Developing maintenance procedures, schedules, and policies.
  • Managing: Supervising maintenance staff and contractors, and ensuring they have the resources to complete their tasks.

Requirements

  • Typically possesses a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 10 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience in high speed; plastics manufacturing in an operational role.
  • Skilled expertise in troubleshooting blow molding equipment.
  • Excellent knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, and PLC troubleshooting abilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of preventive and autonomous maintenance.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Ability to identify, prioritize, and execute on improvement opportunities in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
  • Positive, proactive manager who provides excellent direction and is focused on developing his team and holding them accountable.
  • Bilingual communication skill sets - English and Spanish are a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
