About the position

The Operations Manager at LabCorp will oversee the operations and administration of clinical laboratory testing across multiple sites in collaboration with Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill. This leadership role involves creating, implementing, and managing policies and procedures to ensure optimal performance of the clinical diagnostics laboratory, while fostering innovation and team building to deliver high-quality diagnostic services.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the daily operational activities of all the lab departments, both technical and non-technical.
  • Effectively manage staffing and monitor the production schedule to ensure adequate coverage and proper use of overtime.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor supervisors and departmental staff.
  • Ensure the diagnostics laboratory meets market-leading service levels and corporate service metrics for turnaround time (TAT).
  • Resolve client inquiries and operational issues in consultation with relevant directors and managers.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate, state, and federal regulatory requirements related to personnel safety and quality of laboratory testing.
  • Assist in developing and implementing laboratory procedures and installation of equipment and methods.
  • Manage staff including hiring, performance management, training, and development.
  • Ensure effective communication with leadership, clients, sales, and departmental staff.
  • Conduct departmental meetings and ensure appropriate communication within the department.
  • Investigate deviations from established procedures and ensure effective corrective action is taken.
  • Maintain technical knowledge in assigned department(s) for laboratory testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory requirements.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience as a Technologist in a clinical diagnostics laboratory.
  • Prior supervisory experience managing several direct reports.
  • Previous experience managing people leaders is a plus.
  • ASCP certification is preferred.
  • Experience in a high-volume clinical laboratory environment is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and relevant state regulations.
  • Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Proven success in training and developing both technical and non-technical employees.
  • Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment.
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.
