About the position

The Operations Manager at Owens & Minor is responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the distribution center, ensuring that safety, quality, and production goals are met. This role involves managing a team of supervisors and floor associates in a fast-paced environment, while also acting as the main point of contact for the site. The Operations Manager will be instrumental in achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supply chain management and distribution metrics, and will play a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy and compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of a fast-paced distribution center with approximately 100 FTEs.
  • Oversee receiving, stocking, picking, checking, and shipping processes with FedEx, USPS, and local couriers.
  • Achieve company-established KPIs related to supply chain management and distribution metrics.
  • Report monthly key indicator results to corporate contacts as needed.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through physical inventories, cycle counting, and corrective actions.
  • Meet monthly freight budgets and manage logistics support and knowledge.
  • Determine staffing requirements, hire and terminate personnel, and implement training programs.
  • Resolve personnel issues and track payroll hours while setting directives and goals for staff.
  • Develop business knowledge in all areas of logistics and maintain compliance with H/R policies.
  • Work closely with finance to review, approve, and code all invoices related to the facility.
  • Collaborate with customer service management to meet common objectives and maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years of warehouse/distribution management experience.
  • Stand-alone management experience is a plus.
  • Self-motivated and hands-on management style.
  • Experience in budget development and management.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and motivation skills.
  • Background in Lean methodology for continuous improvement.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
