About the position

The Operations Manager at Grede is responsible for overseeing the coordination of manufacturing operations to achieve production objectives efficiently and cost-effectively. This role involves managing production supervisors across multiple shifts, ensuring production goals are met, and implementing lean manufacturing techniques. The Operations Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining equipment, managing production employees, and providing leadership to achieve company goals.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all aspects of production operations.
• Coordinate manufacturing activities with departmental managers to meet manufacturing objectives.
• Execute manufacturing schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity.
• Develop and control profits, plans, and budgets related to production needs.
• Implement cost-effective systems to control operating expenditures, manpower, and wages.
• Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production standards.
• Control and minimize labor overtime.
• Maintain and adjust plant equipment as necessary.
• Meet with vendors and customers to resolve production issues and clarify order requirements.
• Manage production employees, including performance management and hiring.
• Provide leadership and training to achieve company goals and objectives.
• Incorporate lean manufacturing techniques and maintain plant cleanliness.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
• At least eight years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals and technical procedures.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
• Mid-level computer competency.
