About the position

The Operations Manager at West Marine is responsible for overseeing store operations to achieve sales goals while ensuring excellent customer service. This role involves planning, coordinating, and managing various operational aspects of the store, including staff training, inventory management, and customer engagement. The Operations Manager plays a crucial role in guiding the team to meet business objectives and enhance customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Monthly Staffing Guide to address service deficits by scheduling for traffic and store activities while optimizing payroll allocations.
  • Act as the 'Manager on Duty' during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure the store and staff represent the highest expression of the brand and service provided.
  • Train store Associates on product knowledge, selling techniques, and sales-related issues.
  • Develop strategies to grow customer count, loyalty members, increase store traffic, and optimize profitability.
  • Ensure staff is informed and educated on servicing PRO customers.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, assigning weekly performance goals and ensuring their completion.
  • Maintain staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge of staff and management through training.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and enforce operational and personal policies and procedures.
  • Ensure sales are set and displayed properly per Event Directive by the start date.
  • Ensure completion of all open orders for SFS and buy online and pick up at store by EOD.
  • Process payroll correctly and on time.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train high-performing crew members to achieve sales and profitability objectives.
  • Execute or direct all inventory procedures and activities.
  • Verify Asset Protection standards are met at all times.
  • Provide a safe and clean store environment for crew members and customers.
  • Comply with all legal requirements to maintain store stability and reputation.
  • Work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
