About the position

The Operations & Patient Care Executive at Adventist Health is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for hospital operations and direct patient care. This role involves overseeing day-to-day activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a culture focused on patient safety, quality, and employee engagement. The executive will lead market-level operations, develop and implement business objectives, and collaborate with clinical leaders to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees operations for a single market or facility.
  • Manages, directs, and leads market level leadership to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
  • Develops, directs, and implements plans to ensure business objectives are achieved.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develops/monitors/maintains FTE, capital, and operational budgets.
  • Provides effective leadership and coordinates clinical leaders to deliver nursing care, treatment, and services.
  • Represents nursing with the organization's governing body, medical staff, and other clinical leaders.
  • Leads and provides oversight of the strategic development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical and operational services.
  • Establishes a framework for patient care management within the facility.
  • Strategizes and leads process improvement focused on innovative care delivery and operational models.
  • Creates a vision for patient experience and evaluates feedback from patients and families.
  • Promotes a patient-centered, healing environment and superior service delivery.
  • Collaborates with the CMO and establishes positive relationships with physicians and departmental leaders.
  • Acts as a liaison with nursing educators to influence nursing education curricula.
  • Promotes the use of technology to streamline operations and optimize work processes.
  • Ensures collaboration within a highly matrixed team environment.
  • Champions patient safety in all care settings and business activities.
  • Oversees the development and monitoring of quality improvement programs for patient care.
  • Maintains knowledge of current clinical practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads continuous improvement in care management and utilization management across the organization.
  • Incorporates current nursing research findings into policies and procedures governing nursing care.
  • Implements nursing policies, procedures, and standards for care delivery.
  • Approves nursing policies and procedures and ensures staff access to them.
  • Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of clinical activities of non-employee personnel.
  • Oversees ongoing education and development for nursing and clinical staff.
  • Assumes overall responsibility for nursing services 24/7.
  • Exercises final authority over nursing care, treatment, and services.
  • Promotes financial stewardship and clinical excellence for the facility.
  • Establishes performance measures and evaluates operations for effective service delivery.
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of hospital-wide nursing care plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or related field: Required
  • Master's Degree in nursing or related field: Required
  • DNP Degree in Nursing Executive Leadership: Preferred
  • Fifteen years' related operations and/or nursing experience: Preferred
  • Ten years' management experience demonstrating leadership development and competency: Preferred
  • Five years' nursing leadership experience: Preferred
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
  • Certification in Executive Nursing Practice Exam (CENP) or Nurse Executive Advanced (NEA) Certification: Preferred

Nice-to-haves

  • DNP Degree in Nursing Executive Leadership
  • Fifteen years' related operations and/or nursing experience
  • Ten years' management experience demonstrating leadership development and competency
  • Five years' nursing leadership experience
