About the position

The Operations & Policy Analyst 3 position at the Oregon Department of Revenue is a critical role focused on data analysis and policy development within the Business Division. This position involves gathering, analyzing, and presenting data to support decision-making processes and improve compliance within the agency. The role is designed for detail-oriented individuals who can work collaboratively and propose innovative solutions based on data insights. This is a limited duration opportunity that may end before September 30, 2026, and offers the flexibility of remote or hybrid work options.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers, analyzes, and presents data for the section.
  • Develops and maintains reports of the section's data for management decision-making.
  • Uses GenTax, Tardis, PowerBI, SQL, and other programs for data analysis.
  • Plans and develops biennial plans in coordination with management and resource allocation teams.
  • Conducts studies or research to identify potential areas of noncompliance risk.
  • Works with auditors and managers to identify areas of low tax compliance.
  • Evaluates and makes annual changes to database queries to enhance the effectiveness of the OSBP Audit Program.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science, or a related field, and four years of professional-level evaluative, analytical, and planning work.
  • Any combination of experience and education equivalent to seven years of experience that supports the knowledge and skills for the classification.

  • Ability to create clear reports and information from raw data.
  • Proficiency in gathering and analyzing data with PowerBI and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Experience presenting data to diverse audiences with varying technical expertise.
  • Ability to propose innovative solutions from raw data.
