About the position

As an Operations / Production Manager in the Accelerated Development Program at Michelin, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the collective performance of the workshop. Your primary responsibility will be to achieve key performance goals related to safety, machine availability, quality, delivery, and cost, as established in collaboration with the Plant Management Team. This position involves managing and mentoring salaried personnel while overseeing up to 250 indirect wage reports, all of whom are responsible for meeting safety, quality, and delivery targets within the workshop. This role is part of an accelerated development program designed to fast-track your experience and growth within the organization. We are looking for a passionate leader who is eager to gain experience and advance into higher-level operations roles. As such, you must be willing to relocate to various Michelin locations across the United States and may also have the opportunity for a short-term global rotation assignment for further development within Group Michelin. Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of up to 250 indirect reports with supporting salaried staff in a manufacturing facility operating 24/7.
  • Monitor and manage daily performance while setting mid/long-term strategic direction in line with company objectives.
  • Establish and lead the cost control budget for the workshop.
  • Mentor team members and promote employee development and work responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate a passion for continuous improvement in safety, production, compliance, maintenance, and employee development.
  • Provide team communication regarding company, plant, and department business plan objectives and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent is required; an MBA is helpful.
  • 5 to 10 years of progressive management responsibility in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership presence and maturity.
  • Ability to learn quickly and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strategic vision with the ability to implement effectively.
  • Strong leadership skills to empower and influence others positively.
  • Curious, dynamic, and willing to challenge self and others to achieve higher performance levels.
  • Excellent organizational change skills.
  • Geographically mobile to most Michelin sites within the US and open to international relocation for short-term assignments.

  • Experience in a global manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
