About the position

The Operations Research Analyst within the C5ISR team at HII Mission Technologies, supporting missions at Fort Meade, MD, plays a crucial role in supporting the Department of Defense. This position is integral to enhancing the operational effectiveness of military missions through comprehensive research and analysis. The analyst collaborates closely with military and civilian personnel to provide actionable insights that inform both strategic and tactical decisions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical background, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of defense operations and support functions, particularly in the areas of Information Operations, Logistics, and related supporting functions. In this role, the analyst will conduct in-depth research and analysis on various aspects of military operations, logistics, and support functions. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed reports, presentations, and briefings to communicate findings and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders. Utilizing advanced analytical tools and methodologies, the analyst will interpret complex data to identify trends, patterns, and implications for Department of Defense operations. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to gather information, validate data, and integrate diverse perspectives into comprehensive analyses. The analyst will also support the planning and execution of operational assessments, readiness evaluations, and capability development initiatives. Monitoring and evaluating emerging technologies, tactics, and best practices will be part of their responsibilities to inform continuous improvement efforts. Additionally, the analyst will assist in developing policy recommendations and strategic plans to enhance operational support and effectiveness, providing subject matter expertise on defense operations, logistics, and support to various internal and external stakeholders. Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures in the conduct of research and analysis activities is also a critical aspect of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on various aspects of military operations, logistics, and support functions.
  • Develop and maintain detailed reports, presentations, and briefings to communicate findings and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Utilize advanced analytical tools and methodologies to interpret complex data and identify trends, patterns, and implications for DoD operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information, validate data, and integrate diverse perspectives into comprehensive analyses.
  • Support the planning and execution of operational assessments, readiness evaluations, and capability development initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging technologies, tactics, and best practices to inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist in the development of policy recommendations and strategic plans to enhance operational support and effectiveness.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on defense operations, logistics, and support to various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures in the conduct of research and analysis activities.

Requirements

  • 9 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field; 7 years relevant experience with a Master's in a related field; 4 years relevant experience with a PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Operations Research, Logistics, or a related discipline).
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 9+ years of experience in a research or analytical role within the defense sector.
  • Strong understanding of military information operations, logistics, and support functions.
  • Proficiency in using analytical tools and software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R, Python, Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance required; must be willing to submit to CI Polygraph exam.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working directly with military information operations personnel and understanding of military culture.
  • Knowledge of DoD policies, procedures, and organizational structure.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and their potential applications in defense operations.
  • Experience with project management and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with current CI Poly.
