About the position

The Operations Research Analyst position involves assisting in the development of mathematical and statistical models, methodologies, and solutions to complex problems. The role requires providing expert advice and insights on various mathematical and statistical techniques to facilitate effective problem-solving. The analyst will be expected to apply and extend new methods in operations research, mathematics, statistics, and modeling and simulation, contributing to the optimization of processes and decision-making within the organization. This position is critical in ensuring that the organization leverages quantitative analysis to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness. The analyst will work closely with other team members and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and develop actionable strategies based on data-driven insights. The role may also involve conducting research on mathematical trends and patterns, as well as performing detailed mathematical and statistical analyses to support various projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing mathematical and/or statistical models, methodologies, and solutions.
  • Provide advice and insight on mathematical and/or statistical techniques in problem solving.
  • Apply and extend new methods in the application of operations research, mathematics, statistics, and modeling and simulation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in operations research or a related field with at least 24 semester hours in operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, or related subjects.
  • At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
  • One year of specialized experience in developing mathematical solutions or conducting research on mathematical trends and patterns.
  • Alternatively, one full year of graduate-level education in operations research or mathematics may qualify.
  • Superior Academic Achievement in a qualifying curriculum may also be considered.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with statistical software and programming languages such as R, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with simulation modeling and optimization techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
