About the position

The Operations Research Analyst position involves assisting in the development of mathematical and statistical models, methodologies, and solutions to complex problems. The role requires providing expert advice and insights on various mathematical and statistical techniques to facilitate effective problem-solving. The analyst will be expected to apply and extend new methods in operations research, mathematics, statistics, and modeling and simulation, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of operations within the organization. This position is part of the Army Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Workforce, and the selected candidate will be required to meet specific certification requirements within a designated timeframe after entering duty. The role may also involve working under close supervision initially, with a focus on developmental assignments aimed at preparing the incumbent for more responsible positions in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing mathematical and/or statistical models, methodologies, and solutions.
  • Provide advice and insight on mathematical and/or statistical techniques in problem solving.
  • Apply and extend new methods in the application of operations research, mathematics, statistics, and modeling and simulation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in operations research or a related field with at least 24 semester hours in operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, or related subjects, including at least 3 semester hours in calculus.
  • One year of specialized experience in developing mathematical solutions or conducting research on mathematical trends and patterns.
  • Graduate level education in operations research or mathematics may substitute for experience.
  • Superior Academic Achievement in a qualifying curriculum may also qualify candidates.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with statistical software and modeling tools.
