About the position

The Operations Research Analyst position involves assisting in the development of mathematical and statistical models, methodologies, and solutions to complex problems. The role requires providing expert advice and insights on various mathematical and statistical techniques to facilitate effective problem-solving. The analyst will apply and extend new methods in operations research, mathematics, statistics, and modeling and simulation to enhance decision-making processes within the organization. This position is critical in ensuring that the organization leverages quantitative analysis to inform strategic initiatives and operational improvements. As part of the responsibilities, the analyst will engage in collaborative projects, working closely with other analysts and stakeholders to identify key issues and develop actionable solutions. The role may also involve conducting research on mathematical trends and patterns, as well as performing detailed mathematical and statistical analyses to support various operational needs. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of analytical methodologies and practices within the organization, ensuring that the team remains at the forefront of operations research and analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing mathematical and/or statistical models, methodologies, and solutions.
  • Provide advice and insight on mathematical and/or statistical techniques in problem solving.
  • Apply and extend new methods in the application of operations research, mathematics, statistics, and modeling and simulation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in operations research or a related field with at least 24 semester hours in operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, or related subjects.
  • At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
  • One year of specialized experience in developing mathematical solutions or conducting research on mathematical trends and patterns.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced statistical software and programming languages.
  • Familiarity with simulation modeling and optimization techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
