About the position

Axient is seeking an Operations Research Analyst Level I to join our Rapid Assessment team at the Headquarters of the United States Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategy, Integration and Requirements in Washington DC. This position is crucial for providing analytic decision support to senior Air Force leaders, focusing on strategy development, operational concept development, and conducting operational challenge studies. The analyst will be involved in developing capability assessments, war and mobility planning support, and requirements development, as well as conducting net assessments to aid in the Air Force's planning and programming processes. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the strategic planning and programming process, including threat assessment, exercises, modeling and simulation, and continuous feedback loops. In this role, the Operations Research Analyst will apply game theoretic and design methods to create or modify exercise environments to test value hypotheses, assumptions, and constraints. The analyst will also recommend appropriate players from the Air Force and mission partners to support exercise execution. When customized modeling and simulation tools are necessary, the analyst will provide subject matter expertise and oversight to lead tool development sprints. The position involves implementing stakeholder recommendations from across the Air Force Analytic Community and providing Strategy, Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (SPPBE) analytic support by developing force structure and resource allocation plans that integrate multiple Air Force planning inputs, strategic and fiscal guidance, and senior leader direction. Additionally, the analyst will conduct open source and classified research and analysis related to Air Force Strategy, Planning, and Programming. Leading both quantitative and qualitative analysis on a wide range of relevant topics is essential, as is preparing bullet background papers, briefings, and decision aids using strategic planning tools. The analyst will assist in task and workflow management for software applications and models, formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, and collect and analyze data to develop decision support software, services, or products. The role also includes developing optimal time, cost, or logistics networks for program evaluation, review, or implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Apply game theoretic and design methods to create or modify an exercise environment to test the value hypothesis, assumptions, and constraints.
  • Test and experiment with the exercise environment to validate its effectiveness and suitability and train operators.
  • Recommend appropriate players from AFF, mission partners, and other relevant organizations to support the execution.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and oversight to lead tool development sprints for customized modeling and simulation tools.
  • Implement the recommendations of stakeholders from across the AF Analytic Community where appropriate.
  • Provide Strategy, Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (SPPBE) analytic support by developing force structure and resource allocation plans.
  • Conduct open source and classified research and analysis related to Air Force Strategy, Planning and Programming.
  • Lead quantitative and qualitative analysis on a wide range of relevant topics.
  • Prepare bullet background papers, briefings, and decision aids using strategic planning tools as required.

Requirements

  • Under five (5) years of experience in operations research or technical field.
  • Bachelor's degree in operations research, mathematics, engineering, or related field.
  • This position requires a TOP SECRET clearance with SCI eligibility.
