About the position

Axient is seeking an Operations Research Analyst Level II to join our team at the Headquarters of the United States Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategy, Integration and Requirements in Washington DC. This position plays a crucial role in providing analytic decision support to senior Air Force leaders, focusing on strategy development, operational concept development, and operational challenge studies. The analyst will be involved in conducting operational/regional politico-military analysis, developing capability assessments, and supporting war and mobility planning. Additionally, the role includes requirements development, conducting net assessments, and providing decision support for the planning and programming of the Air Force's future operations. The Decision Analytics Teams at Axient systematically utilize both quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques to discover, interpret, and communicate objective insights derived from data. The primary goal is to furnish senior leaders and concept developers with meaningful data that enables more informed decision-making. The Operations Research Analyst will review assigned Air Force Future (AFF) concepts, capabilities, solutions, or designs, determining the assumptions and constraints implied in the reviewed assignments. The analyst will also recommend prioritization for testing these assumptions and constraints, formulating value hypotheses that can be tested to advance, adjust, or eliminate concepts. In this role, the analyst will plan early technical solutions and requirements, determining the modeling and simulation (M&S) tools best suited to support the evaluated concepts. Coordination across the Air Force analytic community is essential to identify best practices, processes, and tools to ensure holistic solutions are recommended. The analyst will formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision-making, policy formulation, or other managerial functions. Furthermore, the analyst will collect and analyze data, developing decision support software, services, or products, and may also develop optimal time, cost, or logistics networks for program evaluation, review, or implementation.
