About the position

The Operations Research Analyst position at the Department of Defense involves designing, developing, and maintaining mathematical and statistical models to support logistics management and ship system design. The role requires analyzing current management methods and creating automated data repositories to facilitate data analysis for decision-making in ship development and acquisition processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, validate, adapt, and maintain mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods, techniques, and models.
  • Analyze logistics management policy and procedures to support ship system design and acquisition decisions.
  • Research to develop technical understanding of operational and application features of assigned systems and logistical support methods.
  • Create automated data repositories and collaborate with project managers and IT specialists to pull required data for analysis.
  • Determine adequacy of gathered data and analyze from various data sources for comparative analysis and validation.
  • Develop measures of effectiveness and sampling procedures to test findings.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must meet time-in-grade requirements for current federal employees applying for GS jobs.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in analyzing products or services related to ship and weapon systems.
  • Knowledge of Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification requirements.
