About the position

As an Operations Research Analyst in the Force Readiness Analytics Group (FRAG) at the Department of Defense, you will play a critical role in enhancing the operational readiness of naval forces. Your primary responsibilities will include coordinating project development and management, which encompasses justifying project plans, scheduling, and developing study plans. You will work closely with a diverse group of stakeholders, including analysts, engineers, commanders, staff representatives, and agency executives, to ensure that all project requirements are met effectively. In this position, you will analyze complex management problems and provide expert consultant advice regarding the potential effects of various alternative solutions. You will be tasked with prioritizing work, translating research findings into actionable project phases, and planning methods of approach. This will involve subdividing projects into significant phases and collecting relevant data to support your analyses. Your role will also require you to perform statistical analyses, including both descriptive and inferential statistics. You will identify and forecast trends, as well as create risk analyses using advanced modeling and simulation techniques. Additionally, you will be responsible for planning and developing theoretical frameworks and methodologies that will guide your analyses and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Degree in operations research or at least 24 semester hours in operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, or related fields.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with military operations and readiness analysis.
  • Familiarity with federal employment processes and regulations.
  • Advanced degree in a related field.
