About the position

LinQuest Corporation is seeking an Operations Research Analyst/NGTS (Next Generation Threat System) Modeler to join our team in Reston, Virginia. This role is pivotal in advancing the Department of Defense (DoD) capabilities through mission-level modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) of complex, adaptive kill webs. The selected individual will work within a multi-disciplinary team that includes operational military subject matter experts, operations research analysts, and modelers. This team will conduct sponsor-directed studies and analyses using a modeling and simulation environment developed by DARPA. The Operations Research Analyst/NGTS Modeler will support study-specific integrated product teams that consist of government and partner stakeholders. A key aspect of this role involves understanding and developing an experiment design approach, identifying key metrics for simulation output, analyzing results, generating visualizations and insights, and presenting findings to senior DoD leaders. The individual will also be responsible for developing platform and system models, modeling behaviors, and creating model hierarchies within the designated modeling & simulation (M&S) environment. Furthermore, the analyst will support the conduct of studies for senior-level military decision-makers, technology developers, and acquisition professionals, which will be utilized in CONOPS development, force structure design, resource allocation, and targeted technology insertion. An active Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP) eligibility is required for this position. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, a willingness to learn M&S scripting languages, and proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, JupyterLab, R, and Anaconda. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential, as is the ability to think creatively and work effectively as part of a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Support study-specific integrated product teams comprised of government and partner stakeholders.
  • Understand and develop an experiment design approach, identify key metrics for simulation output, analyze results, generate visualizations and insights, and present findings to senior DoD leaders.
  • Develop platform and system models, model behaviors, and model hierarchies in the designated modeling & simulation (M&S) environment.
  • Support the conduct of studies for senior-level military decision makers, technology developers, and acquisition professionals for use in CONOPS development, force structure design, resource allocation, and targeted technology insertion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Probability, Statistics, or other related technical degree requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics to include calculus, plus 7 years of experience, or a Master's degree in the same fields plus 5 years of experience.
  • Strong technical background with strong aptitude and willingness to learn M&S scripting language (may substitute with at least one year of hands-on experience with mission-level combat modeling & simulation).
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, JupyterLab, R, and/or Anaconda.
  • Ability to think creatively and function as part of a high-performing team.
  • Ability to coordinate with government and external contractor stakeholders to identify and solve a variety of problems and to clarify objectives.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience developing and implementing simulation models to inform executive decision-making.
  • Basic knowledge/experience in Joint warfighting capabilities, advanced weapons, current and future operational concepts.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with current SCI eligibility.
  • Eligible for Special Access Program (SAP) access.
  • US Citizenship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of Design of Experiments, Data Mining/Seeding, Network Analysis, and/or Non-Parametric Analysis techniques.
  • Strong technical project management skills.
  • Specific working-level knowledge of behavior and/or BMC3 modeling in NGTS, AFSIM, or other similar mission-level M&S framework.
  • General working-level knowledge of NGTS; familiarity with AFSIM, ITASE, or other mission-level M&S environment.
  • Knowledge/experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) of Joint warfighting capabilities, advanced weapons, current and future operational concepts.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with active SCI within the last 12 months.
