About the position

The Senior Operations Research Analyst position at ManTech International Corporation is a full-time contractor role based at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, within the Navy Aviation Division. This position is integral to supporting Air Combat Command's Analysis Division (ACC/A9A) by assisting military and civilian staff in producing critical analyses that inform Air Force acquisition decisions. The successful candidate will engage in both short notice and long-term analytical studies, employing a variety of analytical tools and techniques, including qualitative assessments, spreadsheet analyses, and computer simulation-based analyses. In this role, the analyst will lead and assist in developing analysis plans for trade-off studies related to Air Force combat aircraft and weapon requirements, modernization efforts, and new acquisitions. Typical studies will encompass weapon capability analyses, aircraft survivability assessments, and evaluations of current and future combat aircraft inventory requirements. The analyst will be responsible for creating and maintaining input data for various computer simulations, such as the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM), Brawler Air Combat Simulation, and the Combat Forces Assessment Model (CFAM). The position requires running computer simulations, analyzing output data, and verifying and validating results to ensure alignment with real-world expectations. The analyst will present findings, insights, conclusions, and recommendations through written documents and verbal briefings to Air Force decision-makers. Participation in meetings as a subject matter expert on air combat analysis is also a key responsibility, along with completing required training as mandated by government and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and participate in short notice and long-term analytical studies and assessments using various tools and techniques.
  • Lead and assist in the development of analysis plans for trade-off studies of Air Force combat aircraft and weapon requirements.
  • Create and maintain input data for computer simulations, including AFSIM, Brawler Air Combat Simulation, and CFAM.
  • Run computer simulations, analyze output data, and verify and validate results.
  • Present analysis of simulation output, including insights, conclusions, and recommendations to Air Force decision makers.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as a subject matter expert on air combat analysis.
  • Complete required computer-based and in-person training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Mathematics, Computer Science, or Operations Research with at least 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience.
  • Experience collecting and establishing the pedigree of input data, conducting risk analysis, and model manipulation.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Fortran, R, Python, MATLAB, and SQL.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current Top-Secret clearance
