About the position

The Operations Research Analyst position at the Department of Defense involves applying mathematical and statistical tools to provide technical input for policy formulation. Responsibilities

• Apply mathematical or statistical tools, models, methods, and techniques to provide authoritative technical input for publications and policy formulation.
• Identify, develop, and integrate pertinent information through various data collection and analysis procedures.
• Adapt sophisticated analytical, mathematical, or statistical techniques to resolve problems, including principles from related disciplines such as engineering, finance, or economics.
• Identify the effects associated with implementing proposed standards, regulations, and policies.
• Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and DOD databases to analyze requirements and recommend operations research applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in operations research or a related field with at least 24 semester hours in operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, or related subjects, including 3 hours in calculus.
• One year of specialized experience in designing, developing, and adapting optimization models and performing data analysis, mathematical analysis, and statistical analysis.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Military Health System and DOD databases.
• Familiarity with data science modeling and predictive analytics.
