About the position
The Operations Research Analyst position at the Center for Army Analysis in Fort Belvoir, VA, involves applying advanced research and information technology techniques to support senior-level decision makers. The role focuses on conducting strategic and operational analyses to evaluate military force structure requirements and capabilities, preparing detailed analysis reports, and leading the development of complex models and simulations related to military readiness.
Responsibilities
- Direct the performance of a broad range of strategic and operational analyses to evaluate alternative force structure requirements and capabilities.
- Prepare analysis reports and model documentation pertaining to assigned studies describing objectives, assumptions, methodology, sources and uses of data, and results obtained.
- Lead the development of complex models and computer simulations of military force generation and readiness.
- Assess performance and effectiveness of new or substantially modified force concepts.
- Analyze feasibility of advanced approaches or radically different proposed policies.
Requirements
- Degree in operations research or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics, including at least 3 semester hours in calculus.
- One year of specialized experience conducting analyses related to force structure, modernization, readiness, transformation, and sustainability, providing information and guidance to senior leadership for resource planning and allocation.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of software and hardware languages, operating systems, and database management systems to support data collection and analyses.
- Experience leading projects that demonstrate planning, organization, direction, guidance, coordination, and reporting of study team efforts.
