About the position

The Operations Research Analyst position at the Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army involves providing critical analysis of unit readiness status for all Army units. The role includes developing and overseeing policies related to reporting unit readiness, and requires collaboration with senior leadership and staff to communicate findings effectively. The analyst will utilize advanced mathematical and statistical models to optimize development projections and evaluate cost factors impacting various programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and defend assessment reports internally to the Office of the Army Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations and Plans).
• Serve as a representative in liaison with other team members for exchanging techniques and collaborating on projects.
• Communicate findings via clear and concise written and graphic representations for various audiences.
• Develop linear or multivariate programming models to optimize development projections.
• Ensure appropriate statistical tests are performed accurately on data.
• Develop mathematical, statistical, and automated system models for data identification and analysis.
• Identify and evaluate cost and budgetary factors impacting programs and develop alternative solutions.
• Analyze and evaluate advanced proposals to meet program and mission objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in operations research or a related field with at least 24 semester hours in operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, or related subjects.
• At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must be in calculus.
• One year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level, including utilizing business intelligence platforms for data analysis, creating complex mathematical models, and communicating analytical work to diverse audiences.
