About the position

As an Operations Research Analyst at Hertz, you will play a crucial role in the Fleet team by analyzing data, building reports, and managing inputs for optimization models. Your work will directly impact the efficiency of the Hertz rental fleet and other business segments, focusing on minimizing costs while ensuring optimal vehicle availability to meet demand. You will be responsible for translating model recommendations into actionable business insights and developing processes to manage the growing electric vehicle rental fleet.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data and build reports to support fleet management decisions.
• Manage inputs for optimization models to improve fleet efficiency.
• Translate optimization model recommendations into business implications and monetary impacts.
• Write queries in SQL, R, or Python for data extraction and cleaning.
• Build automation tools for reporting to enhance fleet processes.
• Create data visualizations in Tableau to present insights clearly.
• Collect, categorize, and analyze data using quantitative techniques.
• Perform detailed analysis of key business metrics and provide actionable insights.
• Collaborate with other departments to design and build reporting tools using various platforms.
• Manage fleet decisions impacting TNC, Cargo, and Core business segments.
• Develop processes for managing the electric vehicle rental fleet effectively.
• Analyze data for car allocations and communicate with business leaders for optimal vehicle distribution.
• Ensure data integrity and timely information flow within the optimization model.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in relevant fields such as Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or Business Analytics.
• 1 year of relevant experience or a Master's degree in a related discipline.
• Extensive experience with SQL, Python, R, or SAS for data manipulation and analysis.
• Proven ability to use data for driving operational changes and optimizations.
• Competency in identifying data sources and extracting data for visualization and reporting.
• Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar data visualization tools.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Familiarity with linear programming and supply chain topics is a plus.
• Knowledge of AWS, S3, Databricks, Gurobi, and Athena is advantageous.
• Strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Detail-oriented and organized with a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in car rental or fleet management is a plus.
• Exposure to supply chain topics in a professional setting is beneficial.
