About the position

As a Senior Operations Research and Systems Analyst, you will leverage your operational experience and technical expertise to support leadership decisions in a dynamic global environment. Your role will involve the integration of quantitative and qualitative analysis, data analytics, and data science into military decision-making processes. You will be responsible for developing and applying various analytical techniques, including probability models, statistical inference, simulations, optimization, data analysis, and data visualization. This position encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including personnel management, doctrine and force development, training management, system testing, system acquisition, decision analysis, and resource management. You will engage in tactical, operational, and strategic planning, working closely with divisions, combatant commands, and the highest levels of the Department of Defense (DoD). Your contributions will be vital in enhancing the effectiveness of military operations and ensuring that decisions are informed by robust analytical frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply probability models and statistical inference to support military decision-making.
  • Conduct simulations and optimization analyses to improve operational efficiency.
  • Utilize data analytics and data visualization techniques to present findings to senior military officials.
  • Engage in personnel management and resource allocation to support military operations.
  • Contribute to tactical, operational, and strategic planning processes within the DoD.
  • Support Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) processes.
  • Collaborate with various military and civilian stakeholders to enhance operational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as an Operations Research and Systems Analyst (ORSA) within the DoD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, and Access.
  • Strong knowledge of military training and operations.
  • Ability to develop and present analytical products for senior military officials.
  • Secret clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Army Operations Research or Systems Analysis Functional Area 49.
  • Experience with Army Training management and resourcing.
  • Experience managing an Army Program Evaluation Group.
  • Experience as a military or civilian ORSA action officer on the Army Staff.
  • Top Secret clearance.
  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, Data Science, or Statistics.
  • Graduate of Command and General Staff College or equivalent.
