About the position

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking an Operations Research Systems Analyst to join its Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) in Colorado Springs, CO. This position is open rank, allowing for candidates at various levels of experience, from mid to senior level. The successful candidate will engage in high-impact research and analysis related to national defense, contributing to the development of next-generation technical capabilities. The role involves applying advanced analytical and systems engineering methods to support critical decision-making processes, ensuring the delivery of quality products, and expanding GTRI's influence in this vital technical area. As part of the Signals and Systems Division (SASD), the Operations Research/Systems Analyst will provide subject matter expertise on current and future threat systems, U.S. and allied weapon systems, and tactics. The analyst will manage projects and programs, collaborating with sponsors, engineers, and GTRI management to achieve project objectives. Responsibilities include conducting analyses of alternatives, evaluating systems performance, performing risk assessments, and developing tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). The analyst will also be involved in trade space exploration and the evaluation of test results, contributing to the overall mission of enhancing national defense through rigorous research and analysis. The Operations Research/Systems Analyst will be responsible for managing all technical aspects of supporting defensible decision-making, directing lab resources for large-scale products or system deployments, and developing technical reports detailing models and processes used in decision support solutions. The role also includes mentoring junior researchers and student employees, presenting technical work to internal and external stakeholders, and advising senior government and industry stakeholders on operations analysis strategies. Responsibilities

  • Manage all technical aspects of supporting defensible decision making, including directing multiple lab resources for large scale products or system deployments
  • Manage sub-contractor resources supporting all system engineering areas
  • Develop and implement approaches to address the sponsors' needs within the contractual schedule and budget
  • Develop technical reports detailing models used and processes followed for developing a decision support solution
  • Review and verify work-products are consistent, accurate, and that they address the needs of the sponsor
  • Serve as a resource and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for operations research and systems engineering tools and technologies
  • Mentor and support the teaching and training of student employees and junior-level researchers
  • Significantly contribute to whitepapers and proposals
  • Present technical work to internal leadership and external sponsors
  • Advise senior government and industry stakeholders in strategy related to operations analysis
  • Develop skills and training as part of the greater GTRI workforce
  • Work in government spaces, such as local U.S. Space Force facilities
  • Lead technical projects based on operational analysis of advanced systems of systems
  • Capture external funding for future projects that involve operational scenarios and architecture analysis

Requirements

  • BS, MS or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or related discipline
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing multifaceted projects from startup to closeout, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning
  • Ability to act in varied roles as both a technical resource and in leadership positions
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance

  • Experience with radar or electronic warfare systems
  • Experience with operations analysis of DoD system-of-systems environment
  • Experience writing successful proposals as part of a cross-functional team
