About The Position

As an Operations and Strategy Research Consultant specializing in U.S. Army Aviation, you will leverage your expertise in Operations Research Systems Analysis (ORSA) to tackle aviation-specific challenges and optimize aviation operations. Your role will involve close collaboration with U.S. Army Aviation Unit Commanders and their staff to enhance aviation readiness, effectiveness, and safety. You will be responsible for isolating and defining unknown conditions, resolving critical problems, and developing new theories that impact the work of other experts and the well-being of substantial numbers of people. In this position, you will regularly engage with analysts and specialists within the organization, as well as professionals and program directors from other Department of Defense (DOD) elements and across the Aviation Enterprise. Your ability to summarize, interpret, and exchange information on various issues will be crucial, as will your skills in presenting and defending the results of your work. You will need to negotiate with groups and individuals who may have differing goals or viewpoints, gaining stakeholder buy-in and building consensus to create inclusive solutions to resistance encountered due to organizational conflict, competing objectives, or resource issues. You will receive general supervision from a project manager, who will provide project assignments without explicit technical supervision. It will be your responsibility to independently transform high-level guidance into specific solutions and tasks, ensuring that all duties are performed with a high degree of professionalism, independence, and technical authority. You will keep the project manager and customer informed about the status of studies and technical decisions that may alter critical stages of studies or impact policy or precedent. Your major duties will include conducting research and evaluation of current and future U.S. Army Aviation organizations and operations, planning and recommending courses of action, employing methodologies for solving problems, and coordinating execution of studies. You will also be responsible for organizing and presenting study results, conducting operations research studies, and maintaining close liaison with other Aviation Enterprise elements and external agencies to stay updated on state-of-the-art achievements in Aviation equipment and derivative doctrine. Additionally, you will advise the USAACE G5 on new techniques and innovations that may help overcome tactical and operational problems.
