About the position

The Operations Specialist will oversee the respiratory protection program for the Hanford Fire Department, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency. This role requires both independent and collaborative work to manage program metrics, provide customer support, and facilitate improvements in respiratory protection facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management oversight of the Hanford Fire Department's respiratory protection program.
  • Represent HFD management oversight in the field for daily breathing air and respiratory protection facility operations.
  • Provide Powered Air Purifying Respirator maintenance.
  • Represent HFD management oversight in the field during modifications and maintenance to respiratory protection program facilities.
  • Interface with and provide timely customer support to the Other Hanford Contractors (OHC) that utilize the HFD respiratory protection services.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support assigned program metrics.
  • Create/Update/Field-validate department procedures.
  • Facilitate in the field execution of capital respiratory protection improvements across the HFD organization.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage a heavy workload within a fast-paced environment.
  • Meet multiple deadlines and be responsive to ever-changing priorities.
  • Serve as department administrator for the Inspect-in-trac and WASP software packages.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in operations, safety and health, or project specialist experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experienced user with Microsoft Office Suite software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills are required to communicate with all levels of management, both internal and external to the department and company.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in or an understanding of an emergency response organization.
  • Experience with respiratory protection/safety equipment.
