About the position

The Operations Specialist Energy role at AtkinsRéalis involves supporting the operations team in Richland, WA, by managing work control documents, conducting job hazard analyses, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to facilitate safe work practices and maintain operational efficiency. The specialist will also assist in administrative tasks, develop operational documents, and support facility operations, contributing to the company's mission of building a better world through sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates and processes immediate procedure changes and standard procedure revisions.
  • Initiates, develops and processes work control documents, lockout/tagouts and job hazard analysis.
  • Researches plant documents and determines safe isolation points for maintenance work.
  • Facilitates discussions with subject matter experts regarding job hazards and necessary controls.
  • Assists Operations Manager and Operations Lead with administrative tasks for non-exempt personnel.
  • Maintains data and documents in operations databases.
  • Develops operations documents to support shift operations.
  • Assists with facility notifications and administrative duties.
  • Maintains operations documents and essential drawings.
  • Produces various reports in support of shift operations.
  • Assists the Engineering department in developing Operations drawings and graphics.
  • Develops and maintains metrics and tracking systems for facility performance.
  • Acts as a Person-in-Charge (PIC) for LAWMAST assembly evolutions as assigned.
  • Maintains compliance with safety documentation requirements.
  • Oversees support personnel to ensure compliance with ESH&Q and facility-specific requirements.
  • Identifies potential occurrences or unusual conditions and reports them to the Operations Manager.
  • Collaborates with the Work Control Supervisor to develop work control packages.
  • Ensures good housekeeping requirements are met.
  • Drafts procedural and policy documents for review by the Operations Manager.
  • Conducts process operations in accordance with approved programs and procedures.
  • Supports facility operations and maintenance activities.
  • Performs walkdowns and validations for new processes and procedures.
  • Labels system components by procedure guidelines.
  • Operates manlifts, forklifts, bridge cranes, and handles rigging operations.
  • Operates company motor vehicles in accordance with established policy guidelines.
  • Supports the execution of Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) principles.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree with 4 years' related work experience, or 6 years' related experience without an associate's degree.
  • Experience with work control documents, lockout/tagouts, and job hazard analysis.
  • Experience with technical writing and operations procedures.
  • A NCCCO License.
  • Trained and Certified in Hoisting and Rigging Operations.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in area of associated certification.
  • Ability to work independently while performing operations tasks.
  • Ability to assemble teams of subject matter experts for Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office products.
  • Advanced proficiency in area of associated certifications.
  • Ability to act as a PIC for assigned Operations tasks while demonstrating effective leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage and monitor multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to read and understand existing and planned facility drawings, plans, schematics, and specifications.
  • Detailed knowledge of operations machinery, equipment, and tools.
  • Detailed knowledge of occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions.
