About the position

The Operations Specialist - Hazardous Waste position at Waste Management involves providing essential clerical and administrative support to departmental managers while coordinating various aspects of daily operations. This role is crucial in ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently, with a focus on safety and service quality. The specialist will be responsible for recording and reporting data, troubleshooting operational issues, and maintaining communication with both customers and internal teams. In this role, the Operations Specialist will assist in creating, distributing, and closing out customer tickets daily, ensuring that all service requests are handled promptly. They will also maintain and distribute departmental information, complete various reports as directed by the department manager, and utilize software tools for managing tasks related to procurement, time and attendance, and safety incidents. Additionally, the specialist will support data collection for incentive pay programs and assist with financial tasks such as processing payments. The position requires effective communication skills to liaise with customers regarding service issues and to coordinate with employees about scheduling and work assignments. The Operations Specialist may also be involved in entering and maintaining Service Machine SMART data and will perform other duties as assigned by management. Responsibilities

  • Assists in troubleshooting and resolving safety, service, and operational issues.
  • Creates, distributes, and closes-out customer tickets on a daily basis.
  • Maintains and distributes department related information on a daily basis.
  • Communicates with other supervisors and managers about operations and/or dispatch issues.
  • Completes and maintains a variety of reports as directed by the department manager.
  • Uses software tools to manage a variety of tasks, such as procurement, time and attendance, safety incidents, and contract labor.
  • Assists with data collection and reporting required for incentive pay programs.
  • Assists with the processing of payments and other financial tasks as necessary.
  • Assists in the implementation of operational projects as needed.
  • Communicates with customers about service issues as needed.
  • Communicates with employees about scheduling and work assignments as needed.
  • May enter and maintain Service Machine SMART data on a daily basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. (accredited)
