About the position

The Operations Specialist at Beech-Nut Nutrition is responsible for operating and maintaining high-speed batching, filling, and packaging equipment in a food manufacturing environment. This role focuses on supporting operational goals related to safety, quality, cost efficiency, and service, while ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards. The position requires physical capability to lift up to 50lbs and involves working in a unionized environment after a probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Operate and clean various types of high-speed batching, filling, and packaging equipment.
• Complete production, quality, and operational records per company and regulatory agency standards.
• Support production activities to ensure effective operations.
• Consult with plant personnel on modifications to machines and equipment to improve production and quality.
• Develop relationships with team members based on mutual trust and respect.
• Implement operating methods and procedures to eliminate problems and improve product quality.
• Ensure plant sanitation and safety levels meet or exceed standards.
• Ensure compliance with PPE and GMP standards.
• Develop systems to ensure adherence to operating standards.
• Participate in regulatory agency inspections.
• Utilize lean tools such as 5S, VSM, and OEE.
• Support manufacturing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, cost, and service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Associates degree or beyond highly desired.
• Flexibility in availability for scheduled shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd, weekend work).
• Basic computer skills.
• Experience in manufacturing with responsibility for production processing, packaging, and maintenance preferred.
• Experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) preferred.
• Lean Certification preferred.
