About the position

The Operations Specialist role at Robert Half is a long-term contract position focused on ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods in the transport industry. This position is critical for monitoring weather conditions and communicating vital information to personnel to adjust transportation routes as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Keep track of weather forecasts and conditions that may impact transportation routes and destinations.
• Evaluate potential risks and the potential impact of adverse weather on transportation operations.
• Disseminate weather-related information to drivers, dispatchers, and other relevant personnel.
• Work closely with drivers to modify routes or schedules to avoid hazardous weather conditions.
• Offer support and guidance to drivers navigating through challenging weather conditions.
• Maintain comprehensive records of weather-related incidents and their impact on transportation operations.
• Use analytical skills to assess risks and make data-driven decisions.
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Utilize MS Word, Internet, and Customer Service skills to perform data entry tasks efficiently.

Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in the transport industry or a similar role
• Proficiency in MS Word and internet usage
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to effectively communicate with customers
• Ability to perform data entry tasks with high accuracy
• Availability to work from 4pm to midnight
• Commitment to adhering to safety and compliance regulations within the transport industry
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• High school diploma or equivalent education level.
