About the position

The Operations Specialist role at Robert Half involves monitoring weather conditions and their impact on transportation operations to ensure the safe and efficient movement of goods. This position is based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and requires working irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, specifically from midnight to 8:00 am, Wednesday through Friday, with rotating Saturdays. This is a long-term contract employment opportunity that emphasizes collaboration, customer service, and effective communication within the transport industry.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze weather forecasts affecting transportation routes and destinations.
• Evaluate potential risks and impacts of adverse weather on transportation operations.
• Relay weather-related information to drivers, dispatchers, and other relevant personnel.
• Work with drivers to modify routes or schedules as needed to bypass hazardous weather conditions.
• Offer guidance and support to drivers navigating through challenging weather conditions.
• Maintain detailed records of weather-related incidents and their effect on transportation operations.
• Utilize MS Word and Internet for efficient communication and data entry.
• Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Handle pressure and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the transport industry or a related field
• Proficiency in MS Word and internet usage
• Demonstrated customer service skills
• Ability to perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently
• Availability to work from 4pm to midnight
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm under pressure
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Familiarity with the transport industry's safety and regulatory standards.
