About the position

The Operations Specialist is a critical role responsible for the safe operation of the gathering system and related equipment. This position involves a variety of essential duties that ensure the efficient functioning of the gathering system, including assisting with capital projects and day-to-day operations. The Operations Specialist will work closely with compressor maintenance and related equipment, performing minor repairs with the assistance of others. Regular tasks include pigging pipelines to maintain operational efficiency, assisting with measurement duties by pulling samples, and completing necessary documentation and paperwork. Daily checks of compressor stations are required, along with filling out various reports to ensure compliance and operational integrity. In addition to routine operational tasks, the Operations Specialist will respond to callouts on equipment and compressors in a timely manner, report any unsafe or environmental issues to the supervisor, and oversee contract work. The role also encourages seeking out new methods and practices to improve operations and reporting excessive downtime to the appropriate personnel. The Operations Specialist is expected to maintain the company vehicle and equipment properly and assist in other areas of the business as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the team's success. This position requires a proactive approach to safety and operational excellence, with a focus on adhering to company policies, practices, and regulatory requirements. The Operations Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of operations within the gathering system, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with capital projects and day-to-day business relating to the gathering system.
  • Assists on compressor maintenance and related equipment.
  • Performs minor repairs, with the assistance of others.
  • Pigs pipelines on a regular basis to maintain an efficient operation.
  • Assists with measurement duties by pulling samples and performing other related tasks when called upon.
  • Completes appropriate documentation and paperwork.
  • Performs daily checks of compressor stations and fills out various reports.
  • Takes callouts on equipment and compressors, responding in a timely manner.
  • Reports all unsafe and environmental issues to supervisor.
  • Takes care of company vehicle and equipment.
  • Oversees contract work.
  • Seeks out new ways of doing things.
  • Reports all excessive downtime to appropriate people.
  • Helps out in other areas of the business as needed.
  • Maintains company vehicle appropriately.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of compressor stations, gathering system, and processing plant operations.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids, and high-pressure systems.
  • Follows company policies, practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer orientation.
  • Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation to other employees of the company and outside contractors.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out day-to-day operation issues.
  • Ability to make quick and reasonable decisions in sometimes-adverse conditions.
  • Valid state operating license with driving record insurable under company insurance standards.
