About the position

The Operations Specialist - Terminals position is a journey-level, nonexempt role that operates under general supervision. This position involves a variety of activities essential for the maintenance and operation of pipelines and related facilities. The individual will be responsible for pipeline pigging, maintenance of right-of-way (ROW), and grounds around pipelines, as well as maintenance and repairs on pipeline equipment. The role also includes overseeing construction projects related to pipelines, conducting line locates, and performing relief gauging. Safety and environmental integrity are paramount, and the individual must ensure compliance with all relevant manuals and policies on a daily basis. In this role, the Operations Specialist will prioritize safety and environmental integrity, ensuring that the pipeline is maintained according to the pigging schedule and that all equipment is properly serviced. The individual will take charge of small maintenance and expansion projects, which includes assessing project scope, procuring necessary materials and contractors, and supervising the work with guidance from their supervisor. The position requires the individual to fill in for gaugers as needed and to monitor and troubleshoot Gain/Loss issues within the system, ensuring fair volume assessments at all locations. Daily responsibilities include servicing and maintaining field pumps and LACT units, keeping locations clean, and observing pipeline sections for leaks and maintenance needs. The Operations Specialist will also be responsible for line locating, reporting leaks and needed repairs to their supervisor promptly, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of company vehicles, field equipment, and work areas. Excellent customer service is essential, and the individual must be available for on-call status, requiring them to carry a cell phone at all times for timely responses.

Responsibilities

  • Make safety a top priority each day and ensure compliance with manuals and policies.
  • Make environmental integrity a priority each day.
  • Maintain the pipeline by following the pigging schedule, maintaining ROW, and repairing and maintaining equipment.
  • Take responsibility for small maintenance and expansion projects, including assessing scope, procuring materials and contractors, and supervising the work with supervisor's assistance.
  • Fill in for gaugers when needed.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Gain/Loss issues on the system, seeking fair volume assessments at all locations.
  • Service and maintain field pumps and LACT units, keeping locations clean.
  • Daily observe any traveled section of the pipeline for leaks, line markers, and needed maintenance.
  • Perform line locating responsibilities.
  • Report all leaks to your supervisor immediately and report any needed repairs in a timely fashion.
  • Keep company vehicles, field equipment, stations, and shop areas clean, serviced, and organized.
  • Keep all paperwork and documentation required up to date and complete.
  • Work with customers and fellow employees to provide excellent customer service.
  • During 'on call' status, ensure to have a cell phone with them at all times for timely responses.

Requirements

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out day-to-day operation issues.

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Follows company policies, practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Valid state operating license with a driving record acceptable under company insurance policy.
