About the position

The Operations Specialist at Mid American Credit Union plays a crucial role in providing specialized operational duties and complex functions to ensure accurate, efficient, timely, and confidential services to credit union members and internal departments. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills who can contribute to a positive work environment and uphold the credit union's image through effective teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized operational duties and complex functions to ensure accurate, efficient, timely, and confidential services to members and departments.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for electronic services, including card services and remote deposit capture.
  • Maintain expertise on card processing systems and assist with system upgrades and new products.
  • Provide expert support for complex account issues, including tax-favored accounts and non-standard account documentation.
  • Conduct research and communicate with third-party vendors to resolve staff and member inquiries related to deposit operations.
  • Assist with third-party changes, upgrades, and new product development.
  • Handle processes related to card/electronic activity disputes and fraud.
  • Collaborate with staff and members to resolve disputed and fraudulent activity.
  • Perform BSA-related functions to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Develop staff knowledge through process clarification and training based on discovered processing issues.
  • Participate in operations change management and training processes.
  • Perform daily, monthly, and year-end tasks, including error corrections and regulatory reporting.
  • Conduct quality assurance tasks, including verification of address changes and new account openings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Six months to two years of similar or related experience, including preparatory positions.
  • Proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Outlook software (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Strong customer service skills, including communication, empathy, patience, and organization.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with trust and diplomacy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial services or credit unions.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting and compliance.
