The Operations Specialist - Seasonal at H&R Block plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of tax offices during the busy tax season. This position is primarily focused on non-systems duties that support the overall functionality of the offices. The Operations Specialist is responsible for a variety of tasks that include delivering supplies and materials to tax offices, performing basic maintenance repairs, and assisting with the annual setup and closing of seasonal tax offices. This role is essential for maintaining the operational standards and ensuring that all offices are prepared to meet the demands of the tax season. In this position, the Operations Specialist will engage in basic building maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and conducting minor low voltage electrical work. For more complex repairs that require specialized skills, the Operations Specialist will coordinate with the District Operations Coordinator (DOC) to ensure that certified technicians are brought in to complete the work. Additionally, the role involves the delivery and transfer of office technology, including hardware setup, which is vital for the efficient functioning of the tax offices. The Operations Specialist will also assist in the annual setup and closing of seasonal tax offices, ensuring that each office is arranged according to the established planogram and meets cleanliness and brand standards. This includes confirming that the office is properly secured after hours and attending any required training sessions to stay updated on procedures and best practices. The position may also involve other duties as assigned by the District Operations Coordinator or in collaboration with other managerial staff, making it a dynamic role that requires adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic building maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, and minor low voltage electrical work.
  • Deliver, transfer, and set up office technology, including hardware setup.
  • Deliver supplies and materials to and from tax offices.
  • Assist with the annual setup and closing of seasonal tax offices, ensuring offices meet cleanliness and brand standards.
  • Attend required training for the position.
  • Confirm that the office is properly secured when leaving after hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the District Operations Coordinator or in partnership with other managerial staff.

Requirements

  • Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic reading skills.
  • Knowledge of Outlook and other web-based programs.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license and adequate insurance as required by state law.
  • Good driving record.
  • Ability to work independently.
