About the position

The Operations Specialist at Heart of Ohio Family Health Centers plays a crucial role in managing the billing and coding processes within the organization. This position involves conducting analyses of accounts receivables, ensuring compliance with established policies, and collaborating with both the finance and clinical departments to maintain timely and accurate billing operations. The specialist will report directly to the COO and is expected to uphold the organization's standards while working in a dynamic medical office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis of Accounts Receivables on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to account for all collectable revenue.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight and management of billing and coding timeliness and queue workloads.
  • Review analysis of bad debt and sliding fee reports monthly.
  • Effectively communicate with finance and clinical department staff to resolve questions.
  • Review and approve the Statement process.
  • Enforce Heart of Ohio Family Health's policies and procedures relevant to billing and coding.
  • Review Open Encounter reports to ensure all encounters are captured.
  • Coordinate new provider billing training.
  • Act as a liaison between Heart of Ohio Family Health staff and third-party billing company.
  • Assist with special billing/coding projects as assigned.
  • Comply with all legal requirements and Heart of Ohio Family Health Centers policies.

Requirements

  • Associate degree preferred in human services or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Medical office experience, preferably in a physician's office, clinic, hospital business office, or billing office.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Understanding of laws and regulations impacting the registration procedure.
  • Ability to accurately enter data, with a typing speed of at least 45 wpm.
  • Compliance with HIPAA law and regulations, with the ability to confidentially retain information.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise sound independent judgment.
  • Demonstrated grammatically-correct verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to diffuse and handle difficult situations with good judgment and diplomacy.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness.
