About the position

The Operations Specialist at H&S Family of Bakeries is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of production, maintenance, and sanitation activities within the bakery operations. The role focuses on ensuring the highest level of product quality while adhering to industry standards and fostering cooperation among departments to meet profit and quality goals.

Responsibilities

  • Guide, direct, and manage all plant operations to ensure profit and quality goals.
  • Ensure product quality and adherence to all applicable standards (FDA, QBA, OSHA, A.I.B, etc.).
  • Oversee relations between departments to ensure cooperation, teamwork, and productivity.
  • Review and evaluate each department's operating budget and prepare an overall presentation to the owner for the company's operating budget.
  • Coordinate with HR Manager to ensure the execution of the company's human resource and labor relations policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Direct and manage the activities of ordering, shipping, and transportation to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Represent the company in all plant operations matters to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (i.e. EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, etc.).
  • Maintain good employee relations in all phases of the operation.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all employees/contractors and participate in the development, implementation, and enforcement of safety programs.
  • Ensure all plant personnel maintain the cleanliness of the work area and proper G.M.P.'s are followed at all times.

Requirements

  • Extensive and progressive background in plant management and operations.
  • 4-year degree or equivalent industry training; completion of management skills training program; and AMA Management Skills course.
  • Physically capable of moving to all areas of the plant, company facilities, community facilities, and customer locations.
  • Capable of reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, and pulling as required in a production operation.
  • Able to view products and determine adherence to quality control standards including size, shape, color, cut, etc.
  • Able to generate written and verbal communications clearly and distinctly.
  • Ability to read and review written communication, blueprints, schematics, etc.
  • Able to operate required office equipment.
  • Able to research, develop, implement, and monitor required policies and procedures.
