Responsibilities

  • Assisting with planning, developing, and implementing agency programs.
  • Providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, government agencies, community organizations, or the general public.
  • Performing technical, training, research, planning, policy, program assessment, and administrative activities related to program assignments.
  • Collaborating in the planning, development, implementation, analysis, and documentation of agency programs.
  • Serving as a liaison to staff, government agencies, community organizations, or the general public to explain program specifics and requirements.
  • Monitoring and reviewing compliance with requirements, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures for assigned programs.
  • Assisting with the collection, organization, analysis, and preparation of materials in response to requests for program information and reports.
  • Preparing administrative reports, studies, and specialized projects.
  • Conducting comprehensive reviews of literature, statutes, rules, and policies.
  • Reviewing program area operations to identify areas in need of change and assisting with the development of plans to improve or address areas of concern.
  • Designing and developing project plans to implement new policies, programs, and initiatives.
  • Organizing and coordinating implementation of project plans to ensure compliance with strategic goals and unit objectives.
  • Establishing and implementing short- and long-term goals and objectives for project completion.
  • Researching and analyzing best methods and practices relative to unit goals and operating objectives.
  • Developing proposals and collaborative agreements for new or revised strategic policies, programs, and operating procedures.
  • Preparing and presenting program reports; maintaining comprehensive program records and statistical information.
  • Consulting and collaborating with internal/external staff and consultants to facilitate successful implementation of policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Overseeing core operational and/or programmatic activities as specified by unit leadership.

Requirements

  • Experience in a field related to the agency program.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in a field relevant to the assignment is generally preferred.
  • Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to the program area.
  • Skill in identifying measures or indicators of program performance and in the use of a computer and applicable software.
  • Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; devise solutions to problems; market programs; prepare reports; develop, evaluate, and interpret policies and procedures; and communicate effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public administration techniques, training and marketing techniques, and program management processes and techniques.
