About the position

Adecco is currently assisting a local client, recognized as the world's largest search engine, in a groundbreaking innovative project. This position is a one-year contract with a strong possibility for extension up to two years. The role is based out of the client's office in Mountain View, CA, but will require deployment to various domestic and international locations. The primary responsibilities include launching and recovering balloons as part of a team, where you will be involved in both launch operations and recovery operations. In the launch operations, you will work within a team of 6-12 individuals, where your tasks will include assembling and inventorying launch equipment, conducting pre-flight diagnostics on flight systems, and filling and launching balloons according to established procedures. You will also be responsible for planning and organizing operations that are conducted in remote locations. In the recovery operations, your role will shift to retrieving downed flight systems, where you will work remotely in a smaller team of 2-4 people. This will require you to utilize land navigation and wilderness rescue skills effectively. The position demands a high level of physical fitness and the ability to work in challenging environments.

Responsibilities

• Launch and recover balloons as part of a team.
• Assemble and inventory launch equipment.
• Conduct pre-flight diagnostics on flight systems.
• Fill and launch balloons according to established procedures.
• Plan and organize operations conducted in remote locations.
• Retrieve downed flight systems in recovery operations.
• Utilize land navigation and wilderness rescue skills.

Requirements

• Demonstrate ability to lead small teams independently.
• Experience in operations planning and logistics.
• Experience working away from home or on foreign assignments.
• Physically able to hike 15 miles or more per day carrying a 50 lb pack in a wilderness environment.
• Valid passport and ability to obtain a foreign work visa.
• Clean driving record with no drunk driving or more than 2 traffic violations in the past 3 years.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
• Ability to rent a vehicle.
• Clean credit record and must have a credit card.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to provide clear and concise feedback.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in wilderness search and rescue.
• Experience as an expeditionary trekking guide or instructor.
• Military experience, particularly in infantry or reconnaissance roles.
• Experience as a rotary wing crew chief.
