As an Operations Specialist within CHS grain and agronomy, you will be responsible for loading and unloading grain, agronomy, and feed products. This role involves working with your hands by performing scheduled maintenance and repairs, acquiring knowledge on how to monitor and maintain grain quality, mixing/loading fertilizer/chemical products, and assisting in loading railcars. You will also have the opportunity to obtain certifications to operate equipment, including the chance to obtain your CDL. Under general supervision, you will carry out general labor responsibilities promptly and efficiently. Responsibilities may include developing and maintaining knowledge of the commodities handled at the location and complying with company policy and government regulations pertaining to commodities. You will work with customers in a courteous and professional manner, prepare trucks and railcars for loading/unloading, and control and monitor all load-out functions. Additionally, you will conduct and properly record daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks, inspect in-use equipment, monitor and maintain quality of inventory, and deliver products such as fertilizer, chemical, seed, and feed to customer sites. Keeping all work areas clean, orderly, and safe is essential, as is maintaining a strong safety culture and following all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload grain, agronomy, and feed products.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain grain quality, mix/load fertilizer/chemical products, and assist in loading railcars.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the commodities handled at the location.
  • Comply with company policy and government regulations pertaining to commodities.
  • Work with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Prepare trucks and railcars for loading/unloading, including sampling and attaching/detaching hoses.
  • Control and monitor all load-out functions using automated scale/dump systems.
  • Conduct and record daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks.
  • Inspect in-use equipment for leaks and process equipment issues.
  • Monitor and maintain quality of inventory, including blended, bulk, or packaged products.
  • Deliver products such as fertilizer, chemical, seed, and feed to customer sites.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas through regular housekeeping duties.
  • Report customer complaints, repair needs, or safety concerns to supervisor.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must meet minimum age requirement.
  • 1+ years of experience in Operations and/or Business Operations.
  • Ability to operate machinery such as loaders, conveyors, tractors, and track mobile.
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons to meet business demands.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • CDL license or ability to attain one with Hazmat endorsement preferred.
  • Agriculture experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
