About the position

The Operations Supervisor for the 3rd Shift at Central States Manufacturing is responsible for leading day-to-day operations within assigned areas, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time performance. This role involves supervising employees, executing daily production plans, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance metrics. The supervisor will also focus on team development, conflict resolution, and maintaining a customer-oriented approach while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day leadership of assigned areas.
  • Supervises employees and maintains safety, quality, efficiency, throughput, and on-time performance to schedule.
  • Works with the site management team to execute daily production plans and company initiatives.
  • Supports initiatives to improve customer business.
  • Implements and enforces plant safety procedures and conducts Job Safety Analysis reviews.
  • Develops team through constant on-the-job training and coaching.
  • Promotes and oversees daily huddles with direct reports.
  • Drives continuous improvement activities to enhance performance in safety, quality, and KPIs.
  • Utilizes visual methods in daily operations to monitor safety and quality metrics.
  • Promotes development of current and future team leaders.
  • Ensures quality control checks are completed and investigates quality issues.
  • Conducts interviews for positions within the site.
  • Monitors team performance and implements goals to improve overall performance.
  • Communicates location financials and team's impact on them.
  • Coaches team members on improvement mindset and job duties.
  • Identifies and mentors high-potential team members for leadership roles.
  • Resolves conflicts between people, shifts, departments, and sites.
  • Motivates the team to exceed goals and addresses concerns promptly.
  • Appraises performance of employee owners and provides feedback.
  • Monitors performance against KPIs and adjusts operations as needed.
  • Understands cost control and its impact on the assigned area.
  • Ensures quality control is performed at each work center.
  • Trains and drives operational principles within the assigned area.
  • Plans and balances overtime based on workload.

Requirements

  • Two-year degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a leadership role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify deficiencies and troubleshoot.
