About the position

The Operations Supervisor at La Colaborativa plays a crucial role in managing the operations of a 300-bed family shelter, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for residents. This position involves overseeing various services, coordinating staff, and implementing policies to support housing and economic stability for families in need. The supervisor will work closely with the Deputy Director of Emergency Shelter to foster a supportive atmosphere and enhance the overall effectiveness of shelter operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise shelter operations, including intake processes, case management, and resource workshops.
  • Coordinate facility operations, overseeing cleaning and waste removal.
  • Assist with the supervision of senior direct service staff, including housing case managers and family support staff.
  • Implement staffing plans to ensure appropriate coverage for all shifts.
  • Mentor and support staff to promote professional growth and dignified case management.
  • Recruit, onboard, discipline, and terminate personnel as needed.
  • Oversee intake, triage, and needs assessment processes for shelter placement.
  • Manage shelter transfers and initial services for newly placed families.
  • Monitor health, safety, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the management of external contractors and maintain supply inventories.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish-English or Haitian Creole-English preferred.
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree in social sciences or related field preferred.
  • At least two years of program management or administrative experience, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of housing, homelessness prevention, and human service delivery models.
  • Experience in programs centered on housing and social services.
  • Strong alignment with La Colaborativa's mission and values.
