About the position

Penske Logistics is seeking an energetic and team-oriented Operations Supervisor for the night shift to lead our transportation and logistics team in Breinigsville, PA. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently, meeting customer requirements while adhering to Penske's goals and objectives. The Operations Supervisor will provide operational leadership at a single location, supervising a team of 14 drivers and overseeing daily tasks such as driver deliveries, loading and unloading of trailers, and customer service operations. The position requires a strong commitment to excellence, innovation, and a proven ability to motivate and engage team members. The schedule for this role is Tuesday to Saturday, from 7:30 PM to 3:30 AM, making it essential for candidates to be adaptable and ready to work during these hours. In this role, the Operations Supervisor will be responsible for establishing and maintaining training programs for all supervisors and associates, ensuring they understand how their work aligns with customer business objectives. The supervisor will also monitor performance standards, provide coaching and counseling, and motivate associates by focusing on team accomplishments. Additionally, the supervisor will conduct team meetings, evaluate work methods to enhance productivity, and ensure compliance with financial policies and safety regulations. The Operations Supervisor will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction, ensuring that the team meets and exceeds customer expectations on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and sustain training programs for supervisors and associates to ensure competency and alignment with customer objectives.
  • Communicate specific and measurable performance standards to all team members.
  • Interview and recommend hiring of hourly associates.
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance standards, providing coaching and counseling as needed.
  • Motivate and engage associates by focusing on team accomplishments and recognition.
  • Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, and dispatch.
  • Conduct team meetings to discuss performance and operational updates.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes in work methods to increase productivity.
  • Provide relief coverage for operational duties during absences.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of operating systems to ensure compliance and resolve exceptions.
  • Complete necessary records and reports accurately and timely.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, tracking metrics such as MPG and damages.
  • Manage associates' working hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets.
  • Align day-to-day management with the location's safety strategy and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Communicate and train associates on safety performance expectations.
  • Understand customer goals and work to exceed their expectations.
  • Plan work assignments for effective use of fleet equipment and ensure safe operation of equipment.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $65,000-$70,000 annually with bonus eligibility up to 12% of base salary.
