About the position

The Clerk position at Penske Logistics in Clyde, OH, is a vital role responsible for various administrative and operational tasks that ensure the smooth functioning of logistics operations. The individual in this position will be tasked with maintaining pallet tracking, auditing driver logs and trip reports, and ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. This role serves as a liaison for internal customer support and is crucial in tracking return goods as directed by customers, facilitating the closeout of returns from the private fleet. The position offers multiple shifts to accommodate different schedules: 1st Shift from Monday to Friday (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM), 2nd Shift from Monday to Friday (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM) with a $1.00 shift differential, and 3rd Shift from Sunday to Thursday (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM) also with a $1.00 shift differential. The pay for all shifts is $17.97 per hour. In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Clerk will handle various office and administrative duties, which may include accounts payable/receivable, collections, payroll, fuel reconciliation, and maintaining databases. The role requires regular interaction with drivers, assisting with driver coverage during vacations, and managing the distribution of route books. The Clerk will also need to prioritize their workload effectively and maintain confidentiality in all tasks. Other projects and tasks may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain pallet tracking and audit driver logs and trip reports.
  • Log and track driver file DOT requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison for internal customer support.
  • Track all return goods as directed by the customer for close out of returns from the private fleet.
  • Handle various office and administrative duties, including accounts payable/receivable and collections, payroll, and fuel reconciliation.
  • Maintain files and customer service interaction, resolving driver equipment requests and pallet tracking.
  • Distribute route books and interface daily with drivers, assisting with driver coverage for vacations and overflow freight.
  • Involve the Safety team as required by location.
  • Prioritize workload and adjust based on position requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all tasks.
  • Complete other projects and tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • 2 years of general office experience required.
  • 1 year of customer service experience required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
  • AS400 experience preferred.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary and work the required schedule.

  • Experience with logistics or transportation operations.
