About the position
The Operations Supervisor at Penske Logistics is responsible for providing operational leadership at a single location, overseeing drivers and ensuring that customer requirements are met while achieving company goals. This role involves supervising daily tasks related to driver deliveries, loading/unloading of trailers, and customer service operations, while also managing performance and compliance with safety and financial policies.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce.
- Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch, and documentation control.
- Conduct team meetings and evaluate preferred work methods to increase productivity.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance standards, providing coaching and counseling to associates.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, tracking metrics like MPG and damages.
- Manage associates' working hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets.
- Ensure day-to-day management aligns with safety strategies and compliance with regulations.
- Understand customer goals and work to exceed their expectations.
- Plan work assignments for effective use of fleet equipment and ensure safe operation of equipment.
Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with active listening ability.
- Ability to manage through problems, think critically, and make independent decisions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
