About the position

The Operations Supervisor at Penske Logistics is responsible for providing operational leadership at a single location, ensuring that daily tasks and activities are executed effectively. This role involves supervising drivers, managing logistics operations, and ensuring customer requirements are met while achieving company goals. The supervisor will lead a team, manage performance, and drive process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce.
  • Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, and dispatch.
  • Conduct team meetings and evaluate preferred work methods to increase productivity.
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance standards, providing coaching and counseling to associates.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, tracking MPG, returns, and damages.
  • Manage associates' working hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets.
  • Ensure day-to-day management aligns with the location safety strategy and conduct safety observations.
  • Understand location-specific customer goals and work to exceed expectations.
  • Plan work assignments for effective use of fleet equipment and ensure safe operation of equipment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with active listening ability.
  • Ability to manage through problems, think critically, and make independent decisions.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in logistics or supply chain management.
