About the position

The Operations Supervisor at Penske Logistics is responsible for providing operational leadership at a warehousing location. This role involves directing staff to meet customer requirements while achieving company goals. The supervisor will oversee daily tasks such as loading/unloading trailers, cross-docking, and customer service operations, ensuring compliance with company standards and cost objectives. The position requires flexibility in working hours and may involve working off shifts as needed, especially during peak seasons.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce.
• Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch, and documentation control.
• Conduct team meetings and evaluate preferred work methods to increase productivity.
• Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance standards, providing coaching and counseling to associates.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, including inventory accuracy and control.
• Manage associates' working hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets.
• Ensure day-to-day management aligns with safety strategies and compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Understand customer goals and work to exceed their expectations.
• Plan work assignments for effective use of warehouse equipment.

Requirements

• 2 - 4 years of related functional experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to connect and build rapport with associates and external customers.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to drive process improvement and lead change.
• Experience with inventory management systems preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in logistics or supply chain management.
• Knowledge of safety compliance and regulations.
