About the position

The position involves overseeing site operations and employees in the waste management industry, ensuring safety and efficiency while maintaining high production standards. The role requires strong leadership skills to foster positive employee relations and manage resources effectively, contributing to the company's growth and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Safely monitor and supervise all site operations and employees.
  • Ensure all equipment is in proper working order.
  • Provide leadership to maintain positive employee/employer relations.
  • Sustain a productive and motivated workforce by screening, selecting, hiring, training, and developing personnel.
  • Adhere to all wage and hour laws and compensate personnel accordingly.
  • Ensure safe working conditions at each job site.
  • Develop and implement an effective preventive maintenance program.
  • Schedule and conduct safety meetings and document attendees and topics covered.
  • Ensure employees follow safety guidelines and perform duties safely.
  • Maintain necessary records and manage inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Operate equipment as necessary and conform to applicable laws and company policies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three or more years of experience in the waste industry (landfill or transfer operations preferred).
  • One year of supervisory experience.
  • Combination of education and/or experience.
  • For Transfer Stations, must possess a SWANA certified transfer station operator certification within 60 days of hire.
  • For Landfills, must have one year of experience operating horizontal baler and bobcat/forklift.
  • Must successfully complete training for certification in the removal of Freon and handling of hazardous materials.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in waste management operations.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
