About the position

The Factory Value Stream Leader (VSL) at BAE Systems is responsible for overseeing and enhancing manufacturing operations within a team-based environment. This role focuses on planning, organizing, and leading activities to improve manufacturing capabilities for technical products, ensuring that business objectives related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost are met. The VSL will motivate and coach team members while collaborating with customers and suppliers to achieve operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, implement, lead, and manage activities within a team-based manufacturing environment.
• Establish and improve manufacturing capabilities for highly technical products and programs.
• Provide motivation, coaching, and leadership to team members to meet business objectives.
• Maintain effective communication of responsibilities and objectives to employees.
• Collaborate with customers and suppliers as well as supporting functions critical to the business.
• Utilize Lean concepts to meet or exceed business and customer requirements.
• Adhere to high standards of legal, ethical, and business conduct.

Requirements

• Experience managing people in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to hire, develop, coach, and lead high-performing teams.
• Experience in motivating and managing a direct labor workforce.
• Establishing and monitoring performance to targets.
• Interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers.
• Experience in Electronic and Mechanical Assembly operations with a track record of superior performance.
• Experience in a high volume, high complexity manufacturing environment, preferably in electronics.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree in a Technical field and 6 years of work experience.
• Experience leading Kaizen teams and applying lean principles throughout the value stream.
• Lean Six Sigma Certification.
• Experience in Supply Chain, Program Management, and/or Quality.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610/J-STD-001 class 3 requirements.
